A Passion Project in UK Music Production

Project Overview

Waterloo Sunset was a passion project we launched in 2020: a YouTube music channel dedicated to filming and producing high-quality live sets for unsigned artists across the UK. Over a three-year period, this project evolved into a significant platform for emerging talent, showcasing our expertise in brand development, music production, and high-end video content creation.

The Challenge

The challenge was to build a reputable and visually distinct music brand from the ground up, with no initial funding or external support. This involved not only creating a full brand identity but also mastering the complex logistical and technical demands of filming, producing, and editing a vast quantity of live music content. The goal was to produce professional-grade videos that would stand out in a crowded digital landscape, provide a genuine platform for unsigned artists, and build a dedicated audience.

Our Solution

We approached Waterloo Sunset with a dedicated, end-to-end creative and production strategy:

  1. Full Brand Identity Design: We developed the complete brand identity for Waterloo Sunset, including the logo, color palette, typography, and overall visual aesthetic. This strong brand foundation ensured a consistent and professional look across all our videos and social channels, giving the project a cohesive and recognizable identity.

  2. High-Quality Production Workflow: To achieve professional results, we invested in top-tier equipment and built a skilled team. Our production process was meticulous, involving:
    • Multi-Camera Filming: We filmed each live set with six cameras to capture dynamic angles and create a more immersive viewing experience.
    • Superior Audio Recording: We utilized some of the best audio recording equipment available to ensure pristine sound quality, a critical element for any music-focused channel.
    • Expert Editing: Our team of approximately ten people handled all aspects of production, including filming, producing, and editing over 300 videos for over 175 artists.
  3. Community & Industry Collaboration: The project’s success led to valuable collaborations, amplifying our reach and the artists’ exposure. We were able to leverage our high-quality content to build relationships with key industry players:
    • BBC Radio Mentions: Our work was recognized and featured on various BBC radio stations, bringing wider attention to the channel and the artists.
    • Collaboration with The Voice UK: We assisted The Voice UK in finding new talent for their shows, showcasing our ability to identify and nurture emerging artists.
    • Partnerships with Record Labels: We worked directly with record labels to film and produce content for their artists, further solidifying our reputation as a trusted production partner.
